Performance

Fast response, all year round

Conductivity, not mass

Many floor heating systems rely on mass: pipe set in a concrete slab or screed that takes hours to warm up and hours to cool down. Warmboard takes the other approach. Each panel has a 0.64 mm aluminium face that conducts heat from the pipe across the whole surface, with very little mass to heat.

The result is a floor that responds quickly. On our Australian installations with timber glued to Warmboard, the floor surface typically feels warm within 20 to 30 minutes of the heat coming on. That’s the floor surface, not the whole room reaching temperature.

What high conductivity gives you

Even floor temperatures

Heat spreads across the aluminium, so the floor is warm between the pipes, not just above them. That’s more comfortable underfoot and kinder to timber floors.

300 mm pipe spacing

Because the panel spreads heat so well, the pipe is laid at 300 mm spacing. A floor needs less pipe than systems laid at closer spacing, with fewer loops to connect.

Lower water temperatures

The system can run on lower water temperatures. That suits air-to-water heat pumps, which work most efficiently at lower temperatures.

Practical setbacks

Turn rooms down at night or while you’re away and they warm up again quickly, so setbacks are practical rather than something you avoid.

Designed for each floor covering

The design takes account of each room’s floor covering, from tiles to timber and carpet.
