Most Australian homes are heated by moving air: ducted gas, ducted reverse-cycle or split systems. Warm air rises, so the heat gathers at the ceiling while the floor stays cool, and the fans and ducts make noise.
Hydronic floor heating works differently. Warm water runs through pipe under the floor, and the whole floor gives off gentle radiant heat that warms you, the furniture and the room from below. There are no fans, vents or wall heaters.
Warmboard panels have a 0.64 mm aluminium face that spreads heat from the pipe across the whole floor. That lets the system run on lower water temperatures and respond quickly when you change the setting.
